Tom Yates is a 26 year old Manchester born artist that grew up in a proudly working class area of North Manchester and is a collage and mixed media artist.
Tom’s work focuses on aesthetics and achieving his desired look, with an emphasis that ‘not everything has to have a meaning’. Regarding his process and the way he compiles his unique works, Yates describes his process as creating ‘the art represents the 1000 images I have in my head at once’
Yates was hand selected ahead of hundreds of applications by the team at West Contemporary Editions and Tom Kerridge as the winner of the MCR Fine Art Award, a multi-prize award that included giving the emerging artist prime positioning of three of his artworks within The Bull & Bear, Tom Kerridge's Manchester restaurant housed within The Manchester Stock Exchange Hotel. This was the artist's very first curation.
