THE STORY BEHIND THE PHOTOGRAPH:

"Lou had flown me to New York to work on the cover and the back of background TVs - 64 screens - for his ‘Rock n Roll Heart’ album and tour. I was with him for a month or so. I got very little sleep. Lou thought sleeping was a waste of valuable time! Of course we had a little chemical assistance. At some point we decided we needed a full on session. We shot a variety of material and as always had a lot of fun! This shot got buried at the time and never saw the light of publication until over 30 years later when we collaborated on a very beautiful leather bound high end co-signed book called - believe it or not! - ’Transformer’. It was published around three months before he died, in the autumn of 2013."  Mick Rock
