Mixed media and self-taught artist, Robi Walters is currently Aston Martin’s Artist-in-Residence. He is widely known in the contemporary art scene for his mesmerizing abstract mixed media collage works made up of thousands of upcycled paper and card petals, and sometimes the odd broken LP record. The structure of Robi’s work is based on sacred geometry. The origin of the petal shape is one of the most basic shapes in sacred geometry and is repeated in his work to create a thousand petalled lotus to represent the infinite whole, symbolising both microcosm and macrocosm. The petals are all arranged in a lotus flower-like form that echo his avid and daily practice of meditation. The organic and fluid nature of the works offer a sense of infinity and calm.
Robi’s works not only show an obvious dedication to the labour involved in the creation of each piece, but offer a hypnotic and liberating experience for the viewer, which has afforded him a multitude of buyers, commissions and high profile art collectors.
