Naomi Wallens creates cutting edge design-meets-art with sass, and has exhibited in an eclectic fashion, from Saatchi Gallery to her own house, a converted Victorian pub in Clerkenwell. Her bum sculptures and vases, up-cycled unorthodox furniture sit firmly between the worlds of contemporary art and product design, mixing vintage with new and fusing her love of street art, punk, rock ‘n‘ roll and fetish into her work. In short, she provides a disruptive reaction to the prettier production of contemporary Objet D’Art and a cheeky twist to contemporary sculpture.
A former toymaker with a very successful business to her name, her debut solo show with West Contemporary’s former sister company, Beautiful Crime (now West Contemporary Editions), launched during Clerkenwell Design Week, which gained her an article in the Evening Standard as well as even more admiring support of her work from critics and buyers alike. Since then her works have become popular with UK-based collectors and interior designers. Also look out for street art works by her alter ego street artist name, SHY GUY.
