"It was a promo shoot for his ’New Values’ album in my then NY studio on Madison Avenue, although the record label didn’t like these particular shots. We’d done a lot of portraits, and then decided we needed to take it into something a bit more radical. I knew he had unique visual skills. For whatever reason I said he should do an interpretation of Dali’s melting clock paintings. Probably something to do with the chemicals that abounded on that day! I loved the art, although it only stayed around for a few days before it got whitened out. Delighted that I took a bunch of frames of it! The JO signature is of course for ‘Jim Osterburg’, his given name."  Mick Rock
