ROBI WALTERS

Robi Walters mesmerising signature abstract collage works have afforded him a fantastic reputation within the contemporary UK art scene, having had many very successful solo and group shows in the UK and abroad. HIs use of petals that he makes from a variety of household items such as paper as well as broken vinyl LPs and other found items together with an always brightly coloured palette, recall elements of both the pop art and arte povera movements. The petals that cover his canvases are all arranged in a lotus-like form that echo his avid and daily practice of meditation. Each day will end with the creation of an artwork in an explosively visual diary.

Robi’s work not only shows an obvious dedication to the labour involved in the creation of each one, but offer something hypnotic and liberating for the viewer, which has afforded him a multitude of high profile buyers, as well winning the 15 Top Creatives in the UK in 2015, in The Daily Telegraph’s Amazing 15 in the Arts and Culture section.

The organic and fluid nature of the works offer a sense of infinity and calm, rooted in his notion of a Kakeidacycle in which ‘every petal counts.’ There is also a conversation in Robi’s works that delves in to using waste as resources, one that scrutinises the topic of consumption in the 21st century.
